Using genetic barcodes to study blood cell development

January 3, 2018

In a new study from the Boston's Children Hospital, the Harvard Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology, and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute, researchers labelled blood system stem cells with genetic barcodes to track them during the process of natural blood production. The researchers characterized how the stem cells differentiated into specialized blood cells in mice.

The study, led by senior author Fernando Camargo, PhD, was published in Nature on Jan. 3.
