Winners of the HSCI imaging contest

In conjunction with the Stem Cell Salon, "New Technologies for Imaging Cells," HSCI asked investigators to submit images of stem cells as part of a contest. Below are the three winning submissions.

First place:  Renita Horton (Harvard SEAS - D. Auguste, PI)
This image depicts the evolution of the extracellular matrix on the surface of human embryonic stem cell derived embryoid bodies.



Second place:  Rakesh Karmacharya, MD, PhD  (Broad/McLean)
Human iPSC-derived neuronal culture: Neurons/Tuj1 (Green); Glia/GFAP (Red) Nuclei/DAPI (Blue)

Third place:  Rekha Samuel, MD (MGH) (Dr Rakesh K. Jain. Collaborator: Dr David T. Scadden)
Creation of functional blood vessels derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (Green), RBCs (Red)
