The Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) invites applications for a new project to be funded through the Junior Faculty Program. The specific purpose of the 2022 call for funding is to identify an innovative collaborative project by junior faculty. Proposed collaborations can represent either basic, translational, or clinical science, and can span multiple disease areas. This funding is meant to support novel, high-impact, and cross-cutting research that could lead to new treatments and/or fundamentally enhance our understanding of the target disease area(s) and/or organ systems. The collaborative project should include a plan for the regular interaction of group members and coordination of research activities carried out in multiple research laboratories.... The Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Cancer Program invites applications for pilot grants to be awarded for research in 2022. The intent is to provide resources for innovative projects dissecting stem/developmental programs in solid tumors that would help foster collaborations within the HSCI research community. This funding is for innovative, high-impact research projects. Multi-investigator, multi-institution proposals are encouraged; of specific interest to this funding cycle are proposals that dissect mechanisms that enable malignant stem cells to evade the immune system. Additionally, the applications should promote the Program mission: To identify critical genes and pathways that sufficiently distinguish cancer from normal stem cells and hence may serve as candidate targets for therapy.... The Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Diabetes Program invites applications for pilot grant funding. The purpose of this call for applications is to fund innovative projects that aim to develop new or leverage existing modalities to deliver genetic payloads to pancreatic islet cells for the therapy of type 1 diabetes. Collaborative proposals are welcome, particulary where one of the labs has expertise in diabetes research. The HSCI diabetes Program intends to award up to two grants in response to this call for proposals, contingent upon the number and quality of the proposals received.... The Harvard Stem Cell Institute (HSCI) Diabetes Program invites applications for pilot grant funding. The purpose of this call for applications is to fund innovative projects rooted in our understanding of tumor-immune interactions to avert the immune attack on pancreatic islet cells that underlies type 1 diabetes. A particular focus of the Diabetes Program lies in developing solutions that will enable the transplantation of stem cell-derived islet cells into patients with autoimmune diabetes. Approaches of interest include – but are not limited to – novel immune interventions to regulate or eliminate autoreactive T lymphocytes, interventions to modify local antigen presentation, and genetic manipulations of stem cell-derived islet cells to protect them against allo- and autoimmunity. Collaborative proposals are welcome, particulary where one of the labs has expertise in diabetes research. The HSCI diabetes Program intends to award up to two grants as a result of this call for proposals....
