Symposium and Project Titles

A scientific symposium is held on the Harvard University campus during the final week of the internship in August. The date is typically the second Thursday of August and the program runs from about 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Interns should dress in a manner that projects professionalism. Participation in this symposium is mandatory, and mentors/PIs/labs/family and friends are welcome - indeed, encouraged - to attend.  Interns will be given information on preparing a poster and oral presentation during one of the weekly classes/seminar series. Interns will have five minutes to deliver their oral presentation with a poster session to follow. This is the highlight of the summer and it allows the interns to share the progress they made and challenges they encountered in conducting their summer research project. Following the day-long symposium, interns are treated to a celebratory farewell dinner.

NEW AS OF 2020: Harvard students working in HSCI-affiliated labs are also invited to present on their projects.

For reference, the 2019 schedule and the topics discussed is shared below.
