Melton Lab

The Melton Lab at Harvard University is seeking a Senior Research Manager to: 

  • Develop goals and studies for stem cell growth, differentiation, and new work in autoimmunity.
  • Train staff and students in techniques for cell production and assays.
  • Design/conduct experiments to improve cell production and generate SOPs for differentiation process, quality control assays, animal experiments, and autoimmune assays. Troubleshoot experiments and advise on course of action to resolve technical problems.
  • Coordinate distribution of cells and quality control reports to internal lab staff and external collaborators.
  • Establish/maintain database of protocols and experimental results.
  • Consult experts, review literature, implement and document new/alterative techniques that advance research goals.
  • Manage and optimally deploy research funding portfolio.
  • Identifying requirements of distinct, complementary, and overlapping projects to optimize supply inventory and staff effort to ensure adequate resources.
  • Monitor research progress and oversee adherence to project budgets, scientific milestones, and award periods.
  • Make recommendations to PI about key administrative and resource issues.
  • Help develop proposals for future sponsored support.
  • Liaise with Office of Technology Development (OTD) and HSCRB's research compliance team; manage material transfer agreements (MTAs) with external companies for joint development projects and external partnerships with academic and industrial entities. Regularly present and provide updates of experimental results to Melton laboratory members and to external collaborators. Contribute to laboratory hiring decisions.
