Duties & Responsibilities: This position supports several projects involving assay development and High Throughput Screening (HTS) of stem cell-based assays in Dr. Lee Rubin’s lab. The Research Assistant will be responsible for culturing various cell types, adapting the cell-based assay to the automated screening platform, performing the screen, and maintaining the small molecule libraries. The position will work closely with other researchers and postdoctoral fellows to develop and implement the screening assays.
This is a two-year grant funded term position with the possibility of extension based on availability of continued funding and satisfactory performance.
Basic Qualifications: College training in biological sciences and demonstrated laboratory experience with cell culture and cell-based assay development are required.
Additional Qualifications: BA/BS in biological sciences and 1-2 years directly related work experience are required. Prior experience operating and programming robotic liquid handling workstations and hands-on experience in cell-based assay development and cell culture is highly desired. Working knowledge with HCS (High Content Screening) readers and image data analysis, bioinformatics and/or cheminformatics are a plus. Successful candidate will demonstrate competence with oral and written communications and the ability to perform multiple detail-oriented tasks, both independently and as a member of a team.
