We are looking for a highly motivated and independent postdoctoral fellow to join our team in the laboratory of Dr. Qiao Zhou at Department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology (SCRB) on the Cambridge campus of Harvard University. Our laboratory is interested in hormone-secreting endocrine cells of the pancreas and gastrointestinal tract and diseases that result from loss or malfunction of these cells, particularly diabetes and obesity. We engage in both basic and translations studies. One ongoing project is the development of novel cell therapies for diabetes using reprogramming technologies and direct conversion of human gastrointestinal stem cells into insulin-secreting cells. The second project is to study the diversity and function of hormone-producing cells in the gastrointestinal tract, with a particular emphasis on their involvement in diabetes, obesity, and inflammatory bowel diseases. We employ latest techniques in our laboratory, including stem cell culture, mouse genetic models, CRSPR-CAS9, single-cell Sequencing, xenotransplantation, among others.
The candidate should have a PhD or MD degree, a minimum of three years of laboratory experience, and at least one first-author publication. He/she should have vigorous training in cell culture, molecular biology (cloning in particular), and biochemistry. Prior experience with mouse genetics will be a plus.
