Job title: Post-doctoral fellow. Position is currently recruiting.

Job Description

The Agarwal Laboratory at the Stem Cell Program, Division of Hematology/Oncology at Boston Children’s Hospital (BCH) in affiliation with the Harvard Stem Cell Institute seeks a highly motivated post-doctoral research fellow to study mitochondrial biology in human bone marrow failure syndromes. Our laboratory applies genetics, reprogramming, and genome editing technologies to patient-derived samples to understand normal stem cell biology as well as the basis of stem cell failure and disease. The current research aims to identify novel approaches to manipulate mitochondrial DNA, to understand the effects of mitochondrial dysfunction in stem cells, and to develop new therapies for Pearson marrow pancreas syndrome and related diseases.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with basic and translational scientists in a highly collaborative and stimulating environment in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at BCH, in the vibrant Longwood/Harvard Medical Area. An explicit goal of our work is to translate laboratory discoveries into novel therapies – small molecule, genetic-, and/or cell-based – for patients with blood and bone marrow failure disorders. This is an excellent opportunity for scientists and physician-scientists who aim not only to further our fundamental understanding of biology, but also to see these advances applied to human diseases.

Job Requirements

The candidate should have a Ph.D. or an M.D./Ph.D or equivalent training. The position seeks applicants with a strong background in one or more relevant areas including molecular biology, mitochondrial biology, human reprogramming/iPS cell culture and differentiation, and genome editing.

Interested applicants should e-mail their CV, a cover letter indicating research experience, interests and goals, and names and contact information for at least three academic references to the attention of Dr. Suneet Agarwal at suneet.agarwal@childrens.harvard.edu.
