HSCI Principal Faculty member Jose Ordovas-Montanes has received an early-career award from the New York Stem Cell Foundation (NYSCF). He has been named a NYSCF – Robertson Investigator, which recognizes cutting-edge research with the potential to accelerate treatments and cures. The award provides seed funding of $1.5 million over five years to enable transformative research.

Ordovas-Montanes is an assistant professor at Boston Children’s Hospital. He studies epithelial stem cells in barrier tissues such as the airway, intestine, and skin, focusing on how the cells cooperate during health, become dysregulated in chronic inflammatory diseases, and can “remember” inflammation. He is working to establish how “inflammatory memory” is stored in cells to drive disease, and how it can be targeted therapeutically.
