“When I think of Wolfram and Trista I think about two things: one, they’ve figured out how to have fun in science, and the second thing is they figured out early on that collaboration is important. They set aside the concern for credit and figured out how to work together in various ways.” – Doug Melton. North and Goessling started working together as postdoctoral fellows in HSCI Executive Committee Chair Leonard Zon’s lab and have since built a successful, fourteen-year collaboration. Together, they were awarded a 2009 HSCI Seed Grant to find regulators of liver regeneration in zebrafish and collaborated on a Junior Faculty Program project. North also received an HSCI Blood Program grant, which she said acted as a “springboard” – the results of this project allowed her to apply for and receive an RO1 grant.
