“I want to congratulate you in the stem cell world for your successful work collaborating. It’s only going to result in the acceleration of therapies, and that’s what we want to do.” Beall, who delivered the final keynote of the 12th Annual HSCI Malkin Retreat, served for more than twenty years as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, where, according to Beall, “industry is not a dirty word.” Under the Beall’s leadership, the CF Foundation has subscribed to a venture philanthropy model that has raised and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to help develop CF drugs to increase quality of life and extend the lifespan of CF patients.
