To help support diabetes research at HSCI, particularly the work of HSCI Co-Director Douglas Melton, PhD, the non-profit organization Art of the Cure for Juvenile Diabetes will host a live and silent art auction on Cape Cod the evening of July 30. The cocktail-party event, which will be held at the Willowbend Country Club in Mashpee, Mass., will feature the work of some of the Cape’s most renowned artists, with Melton as the keynote speaker.
According to the organization founders and event co-chairs, Sandy and Stephen O’Connor, Art of the Cure for Juvenile Diabetes was formed by a group of Cape Cod artists who have family members with diabetes. “We’re motivated by the desire to help rid children of an insidious disease by supporting promising research that is taking place right in our own back yard,” says Stephen O’Connor.
