Postdoctoral Fellow (Karp and Langer Labs)

Postdoctoral Fellow
Translational Mucosal Biology & Drug Delivery:

Karp Lab / Langer Lab, Boston, MA, USA

The Karp Lab at Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, and the Langer Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology aim to rapidly advance therapeutic solutions for diseases in oral and gastrointestinal mucosa through multidisciplinary approaches. We are focused on the development of platform technologies supporting a broad range of potential applications in medicine and bioengineering that can be rapidly translated to the clinic to improve the quality of life of suffering patients.

A motivated and highly qualified post doctoral fellow will lead a high impact project developing delivery systems for the therapeutic modulation of inflamed mucosa. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for high-level project design and coordination, in addition to leading a team in experimental execution. The candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of engineers, biologists and clinicians, in a dynamic team environment.

Qualifications: Ph.D. and minimum 3 years experience in Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry or related field. Ideal candidates will be able to complement our expertise with experience in:

      • Biochemical techniques
        • DNA / RNA characterization (QRT-PCR, Purification, Cloning)
        • Protein analysis & imaging (IHC/ICC, WB)
        • Flow cytometry
      • Primary & stem cell culture
        • Sterile technique, cell passaging and banking
        • Cell isolation & quality control
        • Media formulation
      • Animal handling
        • Rodent models & experimental procedures
        • Colony management & breeding
      •  Drug delivery
        • Chemical synthesis & characterization
        • Formulation testing

The Karp and Langer Labs are dynamic and fast paced environments that thrive on collaboration and ingenuity. Our emphasis on translational research enables us to train the next generation of bioengineers and expand the boundaries of this exciting field. With that in mind, we seek members with highly developed interpersonal skills who could contribute to our dynamic lab community.
